The Warthog, by V-Sharp, uses spring-loaded diamond rods in an upright V-shape that allow the blade to slide through smoothly and in different motions to achieve a perfect 25-degree edge. You then insert two honing steels that finish the edge and you're ready to go. Maybe 75 strokes on a dull blade, and it's sharp. I'm not sure it holds an edge as long as a Lansky, but it will get there faster, and you can keep going through a bunch of deer without much of a break.

As a long time user of multiple Classic Model Warthog sharpeners, I was at first surprised when I opened the Extreme, thinking it might not be as good based on construction. Was I ever surprised! It is a better design than the Classic. It is easier to change angles, grits, etc. Now I will use the 1000 fine grits each time, they only take seconds to change. Also, the ABS plastics are very adequate, making this an easy to carry model, which does not need a base. Great for portable travel applications. It is the real deal!!! Way to go Warthog!!!

 I have recommended your Classic V-Sharp model many times to men & women for the kitchen & hunting knives they use. I think it is the easiest sharpening system I have used that does the job of sharpening, every time the same and like it should be done. Once used to using it, everyone I talk too agrees and likes the ease of use and they say they will never use their other systems again. The most common complaint heard about some brand of knives is, “the steel is too hard” and “I don’t like it because I can’t get it sharp again like it was when I bought it!”

My Grandfather gave me every Buck knife he was given for presents or other reasons, 9 total in all. This was because he said he could not get any of them sharp again once he used them and they became dull. He only bought Schrade or Case knives because he said he could sharpen them ‘on a rock’ and we hunted around the Uvalde and Junction, Texas areas, so he had rocks everywhere to use for that purp! ose. I wish this sharpener would have been available in the ’70 & 80’s so he could have enjoyed the Buck knives I still have now.

I use the Classic V-Sharp on every Buck I have and it works wonderfully. I would like to thank you all for the personal phone call made returning my call to answer and explain my questions, plus the tips he provided. I will continue recommending your sharpening systems and accessories. I collect knives, so I meet and talk to many knife people, plus I am a part-time gunsmith and dealer of some outdoor products for fishing and shooting sports so many discussions are about knives and their accessories. When using any "V" -type sharpener, you're always told to keep the blade vertical on the down-stroke. So, maybe you failed manual dexterity and can't do that every time.

No Problem...GET A WARTHOG V-SHARP. Not only does it have a vertical guide, but also the sharpner bars are spring-tensioned for exactly the right bearing force.

This is by far the best sharpener I have ever used. Each knife I own is now sharper than it has ever been, even when brand new!

I'm sorry but I've left you card at home and thus I don't recall your first name.  On Saturday, my son and I purchased a knife sharpener from you (the last sales of the day on Saturday) at the gun show.  Of course, my wife thought I was nuts when I showed her the contraption that I just laid out a hundred bucks for but, that is always the case with wives.

Anyway, I spent the next several hours sharpening every knife she had in the kitchen.  I'm telling you that I have never had such success with any other sharpener.  It was truly as easy as it looked at the show and the performance was just as pleasing.  I just wanted to say thanks so much for your courteous and professional presentation and I'm tickled silly with my purchase.

I just had to let you know I bought a Warthog V-sharp at the Abilene Gun Show. I love this sharpener. I had a S&W knife that I couldn\'t get very sharp with any of my other diamond sharpeners. It works 10 times better than anything else, its quick & easy to use. Only way I would sell mine is for enough money to get 2 more...

John, Just wanted to drop you a note and congratulate you on a fantastic product. My father taught me how to put a razor sharp edge on a knife using stones. I pride myself on keeping both my pocket knives and my kitchen knives exceptionally sharp. The problem is always the time it takes per knife to resharpen each. At the recent trade show I was impressed with the ease your sharpener put an edge on completely dull and inexpensive “junk” knives. Certainly the junky knives may not maintain an edge well, but resharpening is so fast! I am a Boy Scout leader and I took the sharpener to a meeting and offered to the boys that they could bring their pocket knives in to refine the edge on them. They were excited. However, the most excited were their moms who all want to bring in their kitchen knives to sharpen them. You have won the hearts of most of the folks I have shown the Warthog to. Thanks again!!

 I purchased one of your warthog sharpeners at the Harrisburg Sportsman Show , it is with out a doubt the best damn sharpener I have ever owned. I butcher several deer for my hunting buddies every year  and this puts my knives through the mill. I do a lot of de-boning which in turn dulls my knives quite easily. I have tried numerous sharpeners and have now thrown them in the junk box. This is the easiest  and the fastest system I have ever used. I have 3 particular knives that I use for boning which are Dexter Russell knives and were to say the least shot, couldn't cut a slice of warm butter. In  45  seconds and 15 swipes with the steel they were back in shape , and I mean sharp shape!
My plan is to purchase one more so that I can use both diamond stones with out changing them , the 320 and the 600 ...
My next sharpening trial is to use my fillet knives that I use for Flounder ....I am sure the result will be the same.
Thank your people at the show and hope to see them next year, it is with out a doubt a great product.

Thank you for the info. Since I purchased my unit I have referred more than 25 customers to you. All are fisherman and all use Filet knives . This unit is absolutely killer for filet knives. Removes very little metal but keeps the thin blades razor sharp ! This is the best unit I have ever used for filet knives !

 I purchased the V Sharpening system almost a year ago. I must say I was the worlds worst knife sharpener until I purchased the V System at the Hunt Expo in Salt Lake City almost a year ago. I now have sharpened all of my knifes to "shaving" sharp as well as my good buddy's knives who is a hunting and fishing "fool".  Hi I bought your Outfitters package for myself for Christmas and all I can say is WOW! This thing works. I have a box full of knife sharpeners,it's quite a collection,some worked,some didn't.The ones that did were a PAIN to use. One quirk to most sharpening systems with guide rods is that the angle changes as distance increases between the blade and the angle jig, so long filet or carving knives will have slightly different bevels along their length. Other guided sharpeners are not exact either, relying on you to hold the blade perfectly vertical.

I have bought practically every knife sharpener made.  I admit, I am not good at sharpening a knife.  The product will really have to work good and easy for me to be able to make it work.  I have diamond stones, regular whet rocks, crock sticks, ceramic disks/wheels, steels, sharpeners that clamp your knife blade to a certain angle and use different grit stones, and many others.  At best, I can get an edge that may be slightly sharp but not one that is even close to slicing paper or even approaching razor sharp.  Then I bought the warthog.  It may look strange but it works and it is easy to use.  I got mine before they had the diamond rods and steels.  I recently ordered the diamond rods and the steels to attach to the rods to finish the edge.  I could not believe it.  I can sharpen a knife that will shave.  Yes, the same person who has carried a knife since he was 6 years old until now (55 years old).  I like knifes and have many but could not sharpen one to save my life.  Now it is quick and easy and really sharp.  I have missing patches of hair on my arm to prove my point (no pun intended).  Seriously, the product works.  Follow the directions.  Adjust the rods and only a few strokes are needed to get a sharp knife.  Insert the steels and about 5 strokes later, you will have a razor sharp knife.  Thank you warthog!!!!

12/08/2005 and I have sharpened many knives with it. Kitchen knives that
were long overdue seeing a stone were brought up to snuff in no time with
that V-Sharp. I also used it on my favorite pocket knife, going through all

I have bought every kind of knife sharpener known to man over the last 40 years and I just saw one of these and it looked like the best I had ever seen.  I have drawers full of sharpeners that didn't work when I got them home and still buy different kinds.  I have the ones on electric motors, table top stones and etc.  My Dad taught us boys to keep a sharp knife and I have always been known in my neighbor hood to have the sharpest knives available.
 
What I would like to know is what it would take to obtain a dealership and go to home shows, farm shows craft shows and etc. and demostrate these sharpners.  Looking for an answer.
